Almost everybody agrees that the U.S. Social Security System is in terrible shape and in need of an overhaul.

Do you think that there will be any money left for you when YOU retire?

The problem is TOO many are playing the Great Government Give Away - since the bills won't come due while they are in office.......................................and Too many have been told that SS would be there for them to live off of, so they didn't save anything........................

Social Security was NOT supposed to be the ONLY retirement fund people relied on - and when it was started, the average life expectancy was below the age people would have started receiving benefits.........................

The System is broken, the question is: When will we get a National Leader who will tackle the hard issue - irregardless of Public opinion, because you know that leader will be tried and hung in the court of Public opinion.........................when will the public stop drinking the cool-aid?

I will say that Bush TRIED to tackle it but man, there was a huge backlash! Then, Iraq and the rest of his agenda was pretty much shot, IMO.

At least he got the tax cuts through. Not enough of them though.

Social Security will remain alive and well.

The "affluent" working class will in effect become indentured servants to the ruling "welfare" class.

Income tax rates will skyrocket in order to make this possible.

America will become more like France, Germany and the UK.

Having spend time in Germany and England...................................I truly hope you are wrong. But if the Dem's get their way and only 40% of the population pays taxes (and we are getting close to that now) - the other 60% will just keep voting them in as long as they don't have to work...................................and another one bites the dust................

Never thought of it that way. If the taxpayers lose the majority of the vote we will be in an uncontrollable situation and helpless to do anything about it.

Thats why people need to get off their asses and do something because if we don't that is exactly what will happen.

THEN MAYBE THE WHOLE COUNTRY WOULD HAVE A VOICE.
They do - IF they are smart enough to figure out how to vote............................but then again having to demonstrate that much intelligence would take away too many votes from the Democrats.............................Lets vote for a former KKK leader to prove "we are the party of the black American's" over and over and over and scream foul over people like Trent Lott taking nice about a dieing old Man to prove that the Republicans are the real racists?Huh HELLO, McFLYYYYYY is there anyone Home???

Why ask for a voice - all you want is for some one to tell you what to think so you and many others turn to the evening lies - I mean news, so that the thinking can be done for you. Sheeple do not need a voice just a sign pointing to the cliff they need to walk off....................................

Thursday I listened to a Town Hall Meeting that John McCain had with a group of women.

One of the questions asked was if Social Security will be available when the questioner retired. McCain used his "straight talk" line and then said that indeed, Social Security would not be available at this point in time.

He said that the taxes that are being paid into Social Security now and in the near future are only essentially paying for the folks who have already retired or retiring soon.

He did indicate that something will have to be done but didn't really say what.

The Dems are looking at fixing the problem.........................by "protecting" all those MEAN people who actually Saved up for their retirement...............................how dare all of you hard working people expect to keep what you have earned when others who have done nothing but cry about how unfair the world is do without (next you'll expect them to work or something like that)?

Look at what happened to those "Mean and Greedy" working people in Argentina who HAD 401(k)'s........

The country's mediagenic socialist president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, announced Tuesday the state would "protect" private pensions from "policies of plunder" by proposing to hand them over to the government.

Praising her own scheme, she claimed Argentina would "set an example" for global financial crisis management by pulling $29.5 billion out of the private sector, and making it public.

As aghast as Argentines are about this, Americans should be too, because a Democratic supermajority in Congress would have similar ideas about nationalizing 401(k)s.
